Thoughts today of Frankie Armes. I knew Frankie on the London and we both moved onto the FFS in Excellent. He got a dream draft as he thought to the Cov, Ironic as I'm a Cov kid myself and would've loved have followed him there too. Sadly missed top top lad. RIP
Remembering all those still on patrol RIP brave boys
Message to Mr Pepper re trying to contact Nick Kemp. Your request has been forwarded.
Yours Aye - Chairman
Firstly may I say how proud I am of all of the forces personnel who serve our great country.
I would like to ask for your help in tracing an old friend of mine who served on HMS Coventry during the Falklands conflict, Nick Kemp. It would be great to speak again.
I thank you for your help in this matter.
Fellow shipmates, families and friends of HMS Coventry D118.
As agreed at this year's reunion I have been looking at providing a commemorative hip flask and tot bottle both with ship crest and some appropriate dates and text all presented in a suitable gift box. I have just about finalized the design and type of flask and now need an indication of how many of us will actually wish to purchase one.
The hip flask will be of polished stainless steel, with crest engraved and words to show the commemoration etc. The small double tot bottle will have a full colour ships crest. Price is coming in at around £46 per set. I will collect them to save postage.
I would have to use D118 Ass funds initially to purchase and then replenish funds as they are sold. So, to that end could you please use my personal email address to indicate if you would purchase, and how many.
I am anticipating ordering at least 15 to 20 at least and hope they sell which I am convinced they will. I can always order more should we need to. Again to save postage I will be selling them at the reunion on 20 May in Portsmouth. So, drop me a line and let me know.
Yours Aye - Chairman
Hi Bob, sorry we have no ties left but they can be ordered from various sources to be honest, some will do single orders and some will not. You will have to decide what you actually want on the blade of the tie as well as the crest of course. To date there are at least 6 versions of the tie in use. If there was enough interest I dare say we could look at getting a 35 year anniversary version?
Email directly if you need any help ordering.

Bob Drummonds post, Chris or Barney Campbell, we got no ties left in stock?
can anyone tell me where I can buy a hms coventy tie.
Dear Coventry members,
I have absolutely nothing to do with the RN or Coventry but was reading this website because I am giving a talk on "damage Control Resuscitation "to a military medicine conference and came across a photo of your ship on that fatal last day. I am using it to illustrate the concept of "damage control".I have had the privilege of deploying on operations alongside HM forces including many RN members. I salute your service and am impressed and most humbled by your efforts to never forget the ship and the 19 who gave their lives for freedom, pure and simple.
Dear all,
Next Sunday - 9th October i will be running for the Veterans mental health charity 'Combat Stress'in the Royal Parks half marathon in London.I will be running in an Action stations kit i last donned on the 25th May 1982.The Number 8's are those issued to us on the QE2 the night before we sailed into Southampton (surprisingly they still fit!)The anti-flash has been kindly loaned by Rocky Hudson.I have an action station story and page at: http://www.justgiving.com/Actionstation
Any support is gratefully received. Many thanks,

I believe I've found a Walter Mitty claiming to have served on HMS Coventry when it was sunk in 1982.
His name is Peter Barker, can anyone remember him from back then?
He was no doubt in the navy but he does not wear a South Atlantic ribbon.
He is a police officer in calgary Alberta Canada and disclosed he was on the ship when it was sunk and lost 13 of his colleagues.
Can anyone confirm him serving on the ship at that time?
He disclosed this when speaking publically at a suicide awareness conference in calgary 13th September.
Dear shipmates et al
Your attention is drawn to the reunion tab where I have just placed next year's Remembrance/Reunion agenda. Please note it is back in Portsmouth due to it being the 35th year Anniversary parade in Gosport the day after our gathering.
I hope many of us will turn out, please shout if you have any questions.
