I am John hemmings widow, I came across this sight last night and found people talking about John how he was a hero saving life's. And his son Antony hemmings wanting information about him. I'm Louise's mum Johns second wife he committed suicide in 1992 when Louise was just 6 months old due to what he suffered at the Falklands. I'm pleased to say Antony Hemmings is in touch with Louise.

Shipmates, due to a late cancellation, would anyone like a pair of tickets for this year's afternoon live performance at the Royal Albert Hall for the 2017 Festival of Remembrance Service? To take place on Sat 11 Nov, 1400. You would be joining 5 other Cov D118 shipmates plus our significant halves in a Grand Tier Box that seats 12, so a good position. Our little group have been attending regularly over recent years and it is a great event to witness in 'rig of the day' Jackets/Ties/Medals. The cost would be £65 for the pair, we also have a social program for the whole weekend actually but you can join in as much as you would like or just the Albert Hall, maybe wets and dinner with us after? Anyone interested in joining us give me a call on 07786 156763 when I can give you the full details and answer any questions. Yours Aye - Chairman

Hi. I work in the EW school at HMS Collingwood and I am hoping that your members may be able to help. We have dedicated classrooms at the school to the memory of LRO(W) Bernie Still and AB(EW) Adrian Sunderland and were hoping that some of your members have any pictures of Bernie and Adrian that we could get copies of to put into the dedication of the classrooms. Any pictures of the two that your members have would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Andrew, many thanks for your question and visit to our website. To the best of my knowledge there is no Type 22 HMS Coventry Association. As you will know she was sold to Romania after her time in service. The current 1st Sea Lord, Admiral Jones, was her last skipper and paid her off. Yours Aye - Chairman D118 Association

Enjoyed the visit to the site, as I have an interest in the hardware used in the Falklands conflict

As the CWEM(R) and one of the "tekkies" of Naval Party 2200, may I make a slight correction to the fact that Cdr Mike Kooner RN was not the CO of Stena Seaspread, that role was undertaken by a member of the Stena Co. personnel.

Shipmates, families and friends of HMS Coventry D118 - As Chairman I am now reflecting after a very busy and emotional period over the last week or so. It was great to see so many Cov shipmates (inc the skipper) there at last Saturday's service of remembrance and reunion, after 35 years we still care and remember with such passion and long may it be so. Also the Gosport FVF parade the following Sunday morning, an impressive turn out by Coventry D118 and by far the largest group on parade, BZ shipmates. Some of us also attended in Coventry city yesterday on the 25th May, the Lord Mayor held his own service of remembrance for HMS Coventry, we paraded the standard and the cross of nails at the Holy Trinity church, around a dozen or so shipmates and family members turned out which was impressive after being down south last weekend, so again BZ to those of us attending. We were of course so well supported by the local council, community, cadet force and the RNA as well as other organisations such as T42 Association and HMS Birmingham. Thank you so much for that. As chairman, after a short rest, I now look to next year's agenda and have already had early discussions yesterday in Coventry, we will be holding the annual gathering in Coventry City on Friday 25th May 2018, likely muster time around 1700 or so, so get the date in your diaries and keep checking the website for the itinerary in the coming months. I am sure you all took the tot yesterday as I did on several occasions, so 'Up Spirits' as we remember all our shipmates still on patrol from 35 years ago. Stay safe and well. Yours Aye - Chairman

Sorry I could not be at last weekend's 35th reunion/anniversary. I have just raised my glass to all those we left behind - fair winds and calm seas - you are never forgotten.

A message from Rus Evans, living on Pebble Island in the conflict now living on Orkney. "Hi Craig, Hope you are doing well. Just wanted to let you know I am thinking about you and all the HMS Coventry crew and families today. Please pass on my best wishes to any of the crew you are in touch with. I can still see as clear as day the helicopters flying past going to rescue you all and at that point we did not know what had happened. Mum is arriving in Orkney tonight, she came across from the Falklands almost two weeks ago. Take care buddy."

I was the HC during first commission, left at Singapore, after our Hong Kong, Subic Bay, Japan & China visits. Lots happened after I left, spent time in NI, again, with the Det ended up at "D" Troop 63 Sig Sqn. Have some great memories of Coventry and it was an honour to have served on it and with those who served on her.
