Hi to all I am the secretary of Coventry rna branch. As is the norm in Coventry on may 25th we will hold a roll call and toast all with a few sets of rum. As it is the 35th anniversary the city council have asked us to help them with a service of remembrance as well as what we do. If any members are from Coventry or close by or just wish to join us on this day the service will start at 11:00. It will be publicised to the public through media around Coventry.

Just to let you know Chris Pollard & I attended the Armed Forces Rugby Festival at Cardiff Arms Park on Sat 25 March. Armed Forces Vets playing in number 35 tops won the trophy beating South Wales Police Vets. Unfortunately one of the Armed Forces Vets was stretchered off the pitch with an injury. Look forward to seeing you all in May

Shipmates, families and friends. I have now received the final program for the 35th Anniversary Service of Remembrance and Parade taking place in Gosport on Sunday 21 May, the day after our own reunion for 2017. This is a final note in order to make it clear that the Gosport event is by invitation only. The only way to get the invite is to register you and your guest(s) attendance with me for onward processing with the FVF and Gosport Council. So, if you have not done so, and I suspect many have not, then please email me with the names in your party. Also, let me know if you are attending our own reunion on the Sat evening, need this for security and catering. All details are stated on the Reunion Tab adjacent, alternatively please do not hesitate to call me direct with any questions. Finally, I pick up the 35th year anniversary hip flask and rum bottle sets next week, they look really good! I have final orders for 22 but there is still time (by next Monday 20th) if you want one. See you in May, take care shipmates. Yours Aye - Chairman

Shipmates, families et al, I need to ask that any of you intending to attend this years reunion and the FVF march in Gosport the following Sunday morning (as we did at the 30 year anniversary) please let me know asap with list of names of who will be joining you. Sorry to have to ask so early but the Gosport council and FVF need to know numbers for the march and for the reception after in Walpole park. To make it easy for me (getting old and need all the help I can get) can you let me know if you are attending Saturday at our own service/reunion and if you and any family are attending the Sunday morning event. Obviously if you attend Sunday as well you can march, as we did 5 years ago, in the Coventry platoon. Families can of course follow and watch from the street and re join us at the reception in the park. Would appreciate early notifications please shipmates. Many thanks - Yours Aye - Chairman

Shipmates et al, I have just been asked to provide a heads up that a charity rugby match will take place at Cardiff Arms Park on Sat 25 March 2017. Will be ex RN/RM against ex Wales professionals, all in support of RN/RM and SAMA 82 charities in this the 35th year anniversary of the FI conflict. I have spoken with organisers and they are keen to spread the word to as many FI veterans as possible especially Coventry D118 as Jamie Miller is going to be guest speaker. I have no idea what the format will be etc but I have been asked to bring the standard, however, not sure if I can make it at the moment. More details when I get them. Yours Aye - Chairman

Shipmates, quick update on timings for the lorry naming event taking place at the Coventry Sea Cadets on Sat 14 Jan 17. The ceremony will commence at 1130 sharp, I will personally be there around 1030 in order to meet others and determine the procedure etc. I understand a buffet lunch will be provided afterwards before departing. I hope to see some of you there in support, a few have already confirmed to me as such. Finally, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Take care shipmates. Shipmates, Initially through Mick Daniels but bottom line is: We have been contacted recently by an ex-matelot named Malcolm Wright who, with his son Simon, runs a Haulage / Freight firm. See website below, you see why they have named the company Diamond freight: www.diamond-freight.com + local story http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/etruria-s-diamond-freight-names-lorries-navy/story-22761912-detail/story.html#1 They are now in the process of naming new vehicles after Falkland ships, already named one Glamorgan and planning Coventry next on Sat 14 Jan 2017 at the Coventry Sea Cadets facility, timings to follow shortly. The lorry will have the ships name + silhouette + crest + wording dedicating it to the lost 19 shipmates. On behalf of us all I thanked them and said it was a very kind and humbling gesture and that as Chairman I would attend with Margaret and Mick Daniels for the ceremony with the Standard and hopefully as many as us as possible will join us for the event. I understand travel is an issue but perhaps some more local shipmates can join us. Please let me know if you intend to come along and support this gesture. Any questions call me or email me as usual. Yours Aye - Chairman
