Mac McCormack you old dog, so you haven't exploded from lack of farting after all!!!!! Nice phots mister Beeton, not seen you for a while, (since '82 in Northwood I think), one of them does remind me of why, on the York, I really was not that impressed when the skipper asked for a Captain D3 staff meeting 100yds off the port quarter (mad bugger). Saw Tony, Nobby, Simon and few others at the Cenotaph, thought of all of you and particularly those still on patrol, always in my thoughts. Laid a cross at the Great Lines on the 11th at 1100 for them. Calm seas. Take care. Anybody ever wants me to arrange another meetup and weekend in Chatham just let me know. Sam (RS)

Whilst I have spent approximately the last 16 anniversaries(since the 8th reunion at Sultan)on the phone with the likes of Steve Potts, his ex, Sue, Pancho Wanty, George Dowds and last year, Jim Melia, I cannot and will not stay away from Pompey for one more year. I and most of the above lads, as well as Chris Eames had the honour of attending Mac McGowan's wedding in Blackpool this Easter. A great weekend was had by all and we all agreed that we would make the 25th, where ever it was. Look forward to seeing you all, especially you Damien, as PJ was my PO and taught me how not to take life so seriously. A real Gent. Until then shipmates, have a Great Christmas and a Happy New Year. Don't forget, S.L.I.B.

Dougie you are correct regard Hargreaves Sports in Pompey; I got them to make up a jumper for me back in 83 with the Coventry crest. When I made the initial enquiry I got a note from the owner stating that he was a personal friend of the skipper Capt H D. If I remember rightly they made up our blue track suits prior to 82. Danny regard 2007 in London I will be attending if all goes well on the ticket allocation side of things, I am sure Simon Rouse and Tony Reece will be there;. I sent my request off a few weeks ago – not sure whether people know but all applications to attend/tickets have to be into the Veteran s Agency by February 2007! Best wishes to you all – see you all in May. PS I still have my Coventry tie as well.

Dougie, my company do embroidered clothing - we're just finalising up the design for the crest now and will have polos, sweaters and fleeces available here on the site shortly. With the bonus that the profit goes towards paying for the site's upkeep!
Dougie wrote on November 25, 2006 at 16:44
Damien Hargreaves Sports in Pompey made sweaters with Cov crests many years ago. I emailed them over a week ago to see if they still have the crest on file but haven't had a reply yet. I also have a Cov tie which I believe was made by the same company.

Mick - I'm on the case with the ties... if a company has already made some up that will make life a lot easier - and cheaper!

Right, they've got back to me. Minimum order of 20, I think realistically to cover P&P and a little bit of profit to go into the website hosting, they'd be 12 quid each, but we can lower that by ordering more. The wording does not have to be '25 MAY 1982' but can be anything within reason so open to suggestions...

Regarding rememberance day. I marched, and stood with my fellow Naval Reservists at the war memorial in Newcastle Upon Tyne. During the two minute silence, I always think of our shipmates, and how lucky I have been. Looking forwards to seeing you all in May. Mick - very interesting post from you there, I shall have to see if it possible to attend.

Busta, likewise i stood with the family on Rememberance Sunday at our local war memorial and placed a wreath on it to our lost sipmates.Ref:the tie - i have one from a batch Derek Kimber sorted back in 84/85 it is dark blue with the ships badge and 25th May 1982 underneath. The label has:Maddocks and Dick ltd (club tie speacilists) Royal Mile, Edinburgh 1 hope that helps. Darby - i can remember you well - i too served under the 3 skippers - Nov 79 to 25th May 82.I remember my first day onboard and being summoned to Chris Burne's cabin for a friendly chat - unusual i thought but something i think he always did with new crew members? As well as the re-union in May is everyone going to the big bash in London on June 17th? - it seems we have a great opportunity to march together again - hopefully as a unit.Details are on the vetrans agency website with application form for tickets. Best wishes to all ex- Cov's Mick (Jack) Daniels

Hi Lads, This is a great site, you are all to be congratulated. My links to the Coventry are through John (Flogger) Caddy. John and I served together first as Spare Crew at Neptune and then we joined HMS/m Repulse and were both in the Polaris department. I was at his wedding in Redcar when he married a great girl, Mary. John was my daughters Godfather and she could not have had a nicer guy to be on her side. Time has moved on and I have lost touch with Mary and Kathleen but they and John are often in my thoughts along with every other service man that served in the South Atlantic. If anyone is in touch with Mary I would love to hear from her again. My email address is pabbay@boltblue.com Kindest regards to you all and please keep on the good work of keeping Coventry and her crew alive in peoples hearts.

I served on HMS Antrim during the falklands war and am now the SE area rep for SAMA82. I have had an enquiry about LT David Strickland from his home town. What I need is perhaps someone from Coventry who may know his family to contact me so as we can find out whether or not the family will agree, etc. also if Steve (Chuck) Berry (gunner) or Syvester (RO) who both lived in the same block of flats as I did during the war would like to contact me it would be good to hear from them again. many thanks
