Can't make the reunion again this year. Will raise a glass or two.
Regards to all
For info, as well as the FVF dinner in Pompey (on the advertisement it says it is for the crews, families and ships that sailed from Portsmouth on the 5th of April), there is also a SAMA82 dinner on the 25th.
See you at the Home Club!!!!!
Sam
In case anyone is interested, you can get a lapel pin from the MOD by going to this link. Despite what it says on the front page, the date on the form says a pin can be issued for service up to 31/12/84.

Hi COVENTRY's,
I have just come across this site - best of luck with it.
I look forward to reading David's book when it is published shortly and am sure it will be a success.
I visited Pebble Island in 2002, polished your memorial, and paid my respects.
Regards,
Ian Inskip (ex GLAMORGAN)
Hi Tommo
I was in 3F Mess. I also remember that period in the QE2 passageway. It was very emotional.
Lee Thorne
I served onboard from 1980 to 82 and one of my most enduring memories is that where we were all lined up along the passageway on the QE2 waiting for the gangway door to open. The whole ships company that had survived or not casualties. And then, within minutes we were dispersed and the Coventry was no more. I shall be there this coming reunion, it looks as though it might be a big turn out. Hi to anyone that remembers me, including all in 3F. Has anyone heard from Harry Harrison the AB?
Coventry was my first ship, joined nov 81, wem(r).I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.Ive never been to any reunions, but would like to join you all for 25th anniversary.
Hi to all who remember me. Just to let everyone know Captain Hart Dyke is giving a lecture at the Imperial War Museum Manchester on the 15th May 2007. The lecture is free and starts at 18;00. Its entitled " Four Weeks in May".
If your in or around Manchester on this date you might want to go and see Captain Hart Dyke.
Hope to see everyone at the reunion in May Buck
Mick Isaacs,
Are you still "pumping the iron"
hi old shipmates glad to see a lot of the old names not so sure how the faces will be now. I look forward to seeing you all in may at the homeclub.take care till then old shipmates
Good to see so many new faces to the site, hopefully this will mean a great turn out in May and beyond.
The main reason for this message is to bring to everyones attention the Luncheon being laid on, on the QEII on 13th May this year.
Invited are the survivors of Coventry, Ardent and Antelope.
Only 80 spaces are allocated to Coventry so it will be names out of the hat should this be over subscribed.
All you need to do is send your service details, i.e Name, Rate, Number and Ship to NROWWE@a.dii.mod.uk
Hopefully all places will be filled and this will be the start of the re-unions which will rekindle old friendships.
Good luck to all that subscribe and hopefully I haven't done myself out of a lunch.
Hope you are all well and hope to see you all in May.
Toby Owen
Dear friends.
It is with great sadness that I have to report Carl "Taff" Hathaway has died. I have received the following Email from his wife, Marie.
"I don't know if the news has reached you that Carl (Taff) died on 3rd February. He had been ill for several months but the medical people kept coming up with negative results in all the tests. They eventually found he had cancer but he died two weeks after the diagnosis. We have had a wonderful life together but this is a draft I will have to very sadly accept he will not return from. "
I only served with Carl as my CHOPS(R) for a short while, however I am sure many who log in here will remember him very well.
A picture of him can be found here;
second from left, front row.
I am sure all our thoughts go out to Carl and Marie's family and friends.
Graeme, will be good to see you, hope quite a few of the others will be there too. Are you going to the RNCA AGM, Jack Dawes and Dodger will be there I understand.
Like Chris, went to the Exeter to do some of this filming and met Bertie Ledingham (pilot) who's in fine shape.
See you in May, calm seas guys.
Sam
