I found out today that I will not get my new passport in time for the reunion. I appologise to everyone for not being able to attend this very special event. No doubt many of you do not remember me as I was only on board a short time and a sprog to say the least. However I will miss not shareing this special occassion with you all. Have a great reunion and a few wets for those who have gone before us. I will be having a few wets that weekend and I toast you all. Malcolm

I was first commission but attended the earlier reunions in Pompey after the loss. I have purchased the book and could visualise all the descriptions of places still vividly. The person who lost his Dads lawnmower blades was Roger Jenkins. Could anyone confirm that there was another R.Newman on board in the Falklands as my name appears in the ships company list in the book but my wife cannot believe that someone with the same name as mine also served on the Coventry. I was on board in Gib before you sailed south, I was there with Guz Mobile FMG, and had a couple of pints with with my relief of January '81 Roger Livingstone and also Roger Jenkins. All the best for the 25th to all and I always proudly wear my HMS Coventry tie on that day.

Was just wondering do we need to show any type of ID to get into the Home Club these days as I seem to remember being asked for it the last time I was there.

Dit 1 Dear all. Reading through all the entries, I think we will have a large attendance at the Home Club on the 25/26. I have already primed the club that we are coming, and they have agreed to put on extra bar staff. (I make the assumption that one or two us might get a bit thirsty, and want a drink!) However, I am going to send them another Email, asking for EXTRA extra bar staff. Also just to point out to people who have not attended our reunions before. See the reunion section of this web site for a general outline. I would just like to add, in view of the amount of interest this is generating, that it is a very informal weekend we are planning.

Dit 2 Friday 25th and Saturday 26th evening we are meeting in the bar of the Home Club as usual. A DTS on Saturday afternoon too, if you wish. Come to as many or as few gatherings as you like. We have not got a room booked and we don't have a meal/buffet, there isnโ€™t a band or dress code. This is in line with people's wishes. It will be a friendly informal drink and chat over old times with friends. So many people are planning on coming, it might be that we will have to spill out to some of the bars along the Hard etc. Sunday morning 10:30 (for 11:00) at the F I War memorial in Old Portsmouth. Please drop me a line on email for more details, my email address is in the reunion section of the web site. Rocky

Oh my God!! The Casual Onlookers!! The embarrassment! Still, great to see such a fantastic site all about my first ship in the Mob! Also good to see some long lost faces. Sid Sudworth, Sean Swords, Mick Issacs, Jack (snap your back like a carrot) Warner, , Clive Dunn - the scariest Killick of the Mess ever, Joe O'Driscoll - (RIP) and of course my old mate Gary Knock.

i also hope also to be there on the 25 may.it will be nice to see a few old faces there. nice to see that jerry is alive and kicking and bob roweel is also attending, i will have to warn the bar staff to keep the ice buckets away from him. oe thing that saddens me a lot is the number of our former shipmated that have rejoined those still on patrol that comes with age i suppose now that i have hit the magic half a century. with regard to all steve (ginge) woolham

Good to again see so many old names appearing on the site. I to have also finished reading the skippers book, what a read, if it wasn't for having to re-compose myself on more than one occasion i would have completed it in a day. If you haven't purchased a copy, i recommend you do as it's the best and most true account i believe you will read. BZ Hope to see you all on the 25th, really looking forward to it, the Home Club had better had put on extra staff as i can feel a heavy one coming on!!!

There is a small memorial service at St Marys church in the castle at Portchester, Hants at 0900 Sunday 6th May. if anyone local or otherwise would like to attend this idyllic spot overlooking Portsmouth harbour, our home port for a little quiet reflection and remembrance please come along. Many veteran Falkland servicemen were living there at the time,as well as dockyard and involved civilian workers. so, as you can imagine, Portchester has quite a significant interest in this 25th anniversary.
