I served as the Staff Navigator to Captain F8 in ANDROMEDA during the Falklands Conflict. During a very recent reunion at Kent College, Canterbury I discovered the Commemorative Plaque for Geoffrey Stockwell of your Ship's Company in the Chapel. Geoffrey was a fellow pupil of mine at Kent College and I write to ask if your Association could advise me please where he is buried. Other internet searches have so far been negative.

To all concerned, We have been contacted by the project manager of "Project 718" which is currently replicating a famous World War 2 MTB (Motor Torpedo Boat) known as the "Shetland Bus" the bulk of which requires 36,000 feet of planking wood to construct the hull and decking, at a cost of ยฃ36k. Rather than send the same details that we have, I am suggesting that if anyone is interested in this scheme, they can Google "Project 718, Buy a Plank",which will bring up the top choice from a Federation of Naval Associations newsletter from 2012. A slight difference in the Payee means that cheques/postal orders (crossed) should be made payable to: Project 718 "Buy a Plank Fund" and forwarded to the Project Manager, Malcolm Tattershall. (address given on newsletter) I will however bring the information sent to me indirectly, at the next AGM so that you are more informed on the matter. The HMS Coventry D118 Association is unable to support this project financially but wishes it the very best and hopes that it's story is revisited very soon and enjoyed by many. Smooth sailings "Shetland Bus."

Shipmates et al Just a heads up that I have now placed next years 2014 Reunion/Remembrance itinerary under the Reunion tab adjacent; please take a look and make your plans to join us accordingly. Also, a few photos have been placed under the Photo Albums tab. Look for the 2013 Box. That's it for now, but keep checking the website in the coming months. Have a great summer and stay safe. **EXTREME CAUTION - E-MAIL SCAM***I have just opened an e-mail from Derek Kimber which came with a red flag SCAM WARNING marker, so I deleted it and my bin straight away. It starts with Sad News with Derek talking about being mugged in the Phillipines and needing Financial Assistance. I have rang Derek and he confirms he has been breached and has had to change his accounts. He advises that no-one opens any communication from him for at least a week. You are advised to bin your deleted e-mails asap and change your e-mail account password. Good luck. John.

Many thanks to Chris and his team for all the hard work in organising the reunion in Coventry this year. The hospitality shown by the Coventry RNA was unbelievable so many thanks to one and all - we'll try to be there when we can. Still looking for those 'old familiar faces' it took us over 30 years to get there!

Like wise, a big thank you to Jack Russell for arranging and conducing the memorial service in Portsmouth last Sunday, and Rocky with his balancing act getting the โ€˜White Ensignโ€™ up (without a harness). A very special ship and a very special bunch of people!

A big thank you to those who turned up at Portsmouth this past weekend. It is always a pleasure to renew friendships. Another memorable gathering. A special thank you to Jack Russell for his heartfelt and compassionate words said at the memorial service. I look forward to the same again next year. Best regards Topsy Turner (ex- kilick RP). PS. Stevie Inglby you're still my hero

Shipmates, families and friends First of all many thanks to all that turned out last weekend and to those that have sent messages and good wishes to me personally re our Remembrance/Reunion in Coventry last Saturday 25th May. It was great to meet up again and raise a glass and although it was a rollercoaster of emotions for many we did ourselves proud with many of us turning out to remember our shipmates still on patrol and those we have lost along the way. Pictures from the weekend will go up onto this website shortly, a few have been forwarded to me for consideration already and no doubt more will follow in the coming weeks. As many will already know, from the AGM on Saturday, I was once again voted in (encouraged) to continue in the role as your HMS Coventry D118 Association Chairman, this I am happy to do and consider it an honour to be allowed to continue, but myself and your committee do need your continued support along the way. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Coventry RNA, Holy Trinity Church and Coventry Lord Mayor for most excellent support over the weekend. Finally, I will place a draft agenda for next yearโ€™s 2014 event on the website in the coming weeks, but for now please make a diary note that it will take place in Portsmouth over weekend 24/25 May 2014 and will be at the GIs Association again on Whale Island Saturday 24th May afternoon/evening for both AGM and Reunion. The Service of Remembrance will take place 1030 - 1115 on Sunday 25th May at the FI Memorial Old Portsmouth; full details later, and we will proudly march to the Service once again. Meanwhile, I wish you all well and good health but please keep monitoring the website for any updates or news. Yours Aye โ€“ Chris Howe MBE - Chairman

Sorry we were unable to attend on Saturday but family had to come first this time. On Saturday morning at 1100 The Royal Naval Bell Ringers Assoiciation rang a quarter peel for the lads on Coventry at St faiths Church Havant, they included in their rememberance the soldier Lee Rigby so atrociously cut down in London last week. Our thoughts were with you all on Saturday evening. See you next May Your Aye Derek & Pat
