OK - I did get steaming bats just a week before the 25th - but I PAID for them... Still waiting for the C126 for my Pit - the Ops room etc... Guess paperwork takes time to put through - only 24yrs by now. I see the Saint, my last deploy saved sailors in the Carribdib this week - She gets back in February. Hope to see you all again in May.

I'm a former girlfiend of Tony(Woody) Woodruff. It may be 26 years but I haven't forgotten him. Love your site, thanks for showing your photos, they bring back many memories of that time.

Just reading the debate over the ships motto. I always thought it meant "Strength Guarantees Safety" but it has been a while since I've heard it!

Ginge Was out in Gib last year (sailing - yachts, not grey funnel line) and tried to get in touch with Tommy - no show at the Hole in the Wall. Managed to get hold of a Tommy Cooper, but he was Irish and worked in one of the betting Call Centres. Hi to Tony,Molly and Bob. Johno (little)

Like many before me, Iโ€™ve just stumbled across this fantastic site, congratulations to all involved. Not sure if anyone remembers me? I was a Killick RP and the Helicopter Controller on Coventry just prior to the Falklands. I served onboard from โ€™79 โ€“ late โ€™81 before briefly becoming an instructor at Chatham before being whisked off to become the Helicopter Controller on Intrepid for the Falklands. I still have the photos of the victorious Rock Race team from the 1980 Far East deployment as well as a number of run ashore shots of people in various states of intoxication! Also shots of the Casual Onlookers and a host of others too somewhere if I can find them. Anyone else remember the huge banner the Chinese erected for us in Shanghai? The one that read โ€œHMS Conventryโ€! Best wishes to you all for a great Christmas and New Year.
