Dear friends. I think we can firm up the date for next year. Friday 25 May - Sunday 27 May. It will be in the home club again, no fuss or bother...just us. I shall try to get it advertised a bit more however, local papers etc. I shall repeat this dit from time to time, to keep it more or less at the top of the messages. I have passed along the photos from May just gone, so hopefully they will appear on the site soon. Looking forward to seeing everyone next year. Rocky

On the 24th anniversary of the Liberation I will stop and remember those that didn't come home, those that have no grave but the sea, and those that continue to suffer. Justice prevailed all those years ago - I hope another generation does not have to go through what we went through. We will remember them.

Hi All, Yorkie (Malcolm) and I had a few wets that were long over due but never the less went down well. I will wait until the reunion in 2007 to see who is the best looking. It was a great evening, one that my wife Meggann keeps talking about since our return home. I look forward to next years reunion more than ever, Malcolm

Shipmates: Finally got together with Malcolm (Jock) Rutherford after 24yrs plus… Had our own little re-union for a few short hours in Phoenix Arizona and remembered all who served with us. As usual, a few bevies, a few ditts, and a promise to meet up again in Pompey next year. His wife Meagen took the photo’s – that I hope will appear in the Photo Album soon – Jock will be sending a couple too – just to let everyone know – I’m the good looking one!!! Yours Aye Yorkie Burton

MEM(M) Dec 80-82. I have recently found the site and yes it did bring back many memories, as does every May 25th. It seems like I have missed out on some memorable meetings, count me in for the next one, it will be good to catch up.

My eldest daughter found the site. Reading all your names brought back so many memories. A young WemR when i joined early in '81, dont know if anyone will remember me. Raised a few glasses to all those still on patrol, we wont forget them! Keep up the good work!

Gentlemen The Freedrom Service and Parade of veterans in Gosport is expected to be on Sunday AM 3rd June 2007.This date will be confirmed next week. It is being recommended to move from 17th June as it clashes with the National Celebration. A weekend of activities are being planned including a cabaret show and events for submariners as well as for the veterans. I understand that the QE2 do may be curtailed because of her programme and may now consist of a lunch time session but nothing is confirmed. Had E mails with the Captain David Hart-Dyke recently. He is retired now and is finishing his book on the events on Cov which he hopes to have published by next year. Sorry to have missed the remembrance and am happy with any arrangements you make for next year. Regards Derek

Regard events for 2007 most appear to be around June. The London event will be held at Horse Guards Parade which is to include a march past along The mall. This event is schedule to take place the day after Trooping the Colour, which is normally a Saturday. The plan is to leave all the kit in place for Sunday for the March Past etc – this event is being organised by the MOD. Also there is a buzz going around that a weekend aboard the QE2 is being looked into to reunite all the units, regiments and ships companies that sailed down and back home aboard the QE2. As yet this has not been confirmed but has come from many sources both in and out of SAMA. Paul

Rocky, Keep it in Portsmouth – it was the ships home port and as already mentioned we all know our way around both sober or otherwise. I agree with buster that the 25th Anniversary is a time when we should be with our ships mates; it would be a most fitting time to be together to remember our ships mates still on patrol and to raise a glass or two together. Paul

Busta, did you get my email?does anybody remember or are they in contact with Spider Webb from 3Q.
Busta wrote on May 30, 2006 at 14:45
Rocky:Ditto to "DOUGIES" comments. You know how I feel about the informality of it all. Of more sober thoughts, the 25th anniversary falling on Fri 25-05-07,it gives us the opportunity to be together,to share our thoughts and feelings and also to "raise a glass together" to remember those no longer with us.I get the impression many of us spent time alone on the anniversary,I think on such a special occasion it is best to be with the "FAMILY" OUR "SHIPMATES" I know my thoughts are subjective but we can leave it to the individual to make their own decisions. Hope life is treating you well, take care you lot and stay healthy. Busta

Rocky, Here are some dates - 25th Aniv in june 2007, final date TBC, Liberation Day 14 June 2007, A service of Rememberance at the Falklands Islands Memorial Chapel, Pamgbourne College - 17 June 2007 Vets Parade including drumhead & Marchpast on Horseguards. I have not got any dates for whats on in Pompey but will find out this week. Excellent reunion, well done for the graft, and it really was good to see dear old friends again after so long.
Dougie wrote on May 29, 2006 at 19:02
Keep it in Pompey is what I say. Everyone knows their way around, and I for one would prefer a few wets with friends rather than fighting through a crowded bar full of strangers to get a couple of drinks only to find my oppos had moved to another bar when I got back to where they had been.

Dit 1 Just thinking about next year then, for the 25 anniversary. There will be several events going on in and around the Portsmouth area and up in London, regarding SAMA. As I write this, I am unsure of dates/times/locations, but I currently understand there is a big event planned in Gosport. Do we still want our own event, as we have for the last three years? Or do we give it up for a year and join in with SAMA and whatever they have organised. I am thinking mainly of people who live a long way from Pompie, and can really only make one visit to the town during the year. Personally, I would like to meet up again as we have done in the past, and enjoy the company of my old friends on “our” weekend. If I lived any closer, I might attend the SAMA events too, as a guest. However, you may feel differently, and just want our weekend tying in with SAMAs events.
