Shipmates: I wish I could have been their last weekendโฆ I talked with Rocky, and Busta โ after all these years it never gets any easier to deal with the loss of our close friends and family. I put my black suit on, and the tie I wore last year โ at 3AM here in Phoenix stood in my garden, by the pool and recited the remembrance โThey shall not grow oldโฆโ Then I got totally wasted โ Crown Royal and coke until sunrise.
Dougie was right, as usual Hugh Donald, I never took notes like thatโฆ did not know we had an exam afterwards, thank God he was paying attention. Nice to hear Ginge, and Eddie Campbell were there, and that the turnout โ โEven though it was typical Pompey weather as Busta told me,โ was good, it only got up to a 108 degrees here in Phoenix, a little nippy one might say but at least it dropped to 85 by 3AM.
Yours Aye.
Yorkie Burton
Rocky, thanks again for organising another great reunion, it was great to see some of the old face's turning to, may it continue next year.
Don't forget shipmates that we need your support in November at the Cenotaph in London. If you need tickets or more info about the day don't hesitate to contact myself, Si Rouse or Paul Inman who all regulary attend.
Until later Guys, stay healthy and be lucky.

Tony Winsor, you yokel bobby you.. if you delete the no junk mail part of the email address and send it to the yahoo.com address the email will go through.
Hi Jack,
Remember you well too! How's things?
Well officially it's Shrowsbury, but I don't live there any more. The leather jacket finally gave up the ghost in the mid eighties and the spikey hair is, alas, no more. In fact the hair as a whole is, alas, no more!
The names you mentioned all brought back fond memories,
what are are Shimmo and Clive up to these days?
Regards to all.
Titch Hancocks.
Hi to everyone that remembers me and to those who don't.
Pat you must stop Derek gardening when he's had a few.
Hope every body that went to the reunion had a great time.
Will be thinking of all ex-Cov on Thursday especially those still on watch.
Molly
Shipmates,
sorry i am unable to join you this weekend - work and family commitments dictate otherwise.
hope you had a few wets last night - thinking of you at the memorial this morning and and our shipmates still on watch.
Looking forward to the big 25 next year-hopefully New Romantics gear should be back in by then!
best wishes to all
Jack & Family
P.S. Titch - i remember you well and the swomp,Shimmo,Rod pre-wet Hasler,Dom O'Dell,Terry -sideburns Porter,Dusty Miller,Eddie Campbell - have you still got the spikey hair and leather jacket and was it Shrewsbury or Shrowsbury?
Busta - Clive Dunn lives close by - but have not seen him for a while.Still in touch with Steve Shimmens (Shimmo).Last saw Bill Butler shitters in the RNA club after the Memorial service.
Anyone seen anything of Smudge B.?
Been lurking on this site for sometime now, so thought it about time I signed in. Great to see so many names from the past.
Anyone remember 'The Swamp' in 3Q mess?
Regards to all,
Stuart (Titch).
Sorry but we will not be able to come to the reunion this year as Derek has broken a few ribs, gardening of all things. Our thoughts will be with you all on 21st May and once again on 25th May as we remember those lost.
Love Pat and Derek.
Don's last name is Donald, first name is Hugh, wife was Lynn and kids were Billy & Amy. Yeah, I remember going up to the Smoke with Yorkie and Don and probably a few others too from Chatham in '81. We were there for Chatham's last Navy Days. Don's Mom worked in the Co-op.
Paul (Nutty) Hazell is living in Derby with his wife Elaine and kids Matthew & Laura. I saw them a few years ago while touring UK before jetting off to live in a warmer part of the world.
Last saw Sid Sudworth in 92 in Weymouth with some ex Manchester crew, will see if I can find a number.
Busta: Donny Don Don may be living in Ackney, I remember staying with him for the weekend when we were in Chatham, I know he got divorced when he lived in Pompey many years ago. Last name Donaldson, never ever called him by his first name.
Cheers Paul,
The England rugby team kicked "Aussie" backside!!
The England cricket team kicked"Aussie" backside!!
and "Knocker" is probably doing the same now.
Rocky: Steve "SID"Sudworth in the Weymouth area
What about "DONNY DON DON DON" bring back any memories???
Busta
Chippy's first name is Michael, if that helps.
The Lady Wife who is a genealogist (she looks at family trees) reckons you can find people via Electoral Registers. However I cant remember lads first names!
Supply me with peoples proper names and we will see what we can come up with for next year! I have no idea if Sid Sudworth and Rod Haslar are their real names or just nicknames and obviously Clive Dunn is a nickname! Can anyone help?
Last I knew, Chippy was the Buffer onboard Intrepid but that was back in '97-'98. That was my last ship (even though she was welded to the wall in Pompey!) before I left the mob after 22 so, unless he was offered a 5th or 6th five, he'd be outside now.
Busta,
Knocker is out in Aus; due back later this year - still in touch via e-mail and get the odd photo sent through.
Have not seen Stu Stewart for many years now - last met up by accident in Ibiza some years back, he was still in the mob then.
I would like to met up with Chippy Chipperfield, Rod Haslar, Jimmy Greaves, Billy Butler, Clive Dunn and the rest of 3Q, anyone know where they are or what happened to them?
Paul
Tony: Nice to see your catching the hang of a computerโฆ, are you going down to Pompey this year?
Iโll be calling a few shipmates on Saturday/Sunday from here in Phoenix, just make sure your cell phones are off at 10:58am this Sunday. Rocky/Busta โ if you have a transcript of the ceremony โ please send it so I can Sing Along! You know what I meant by that โ Woody โ you will be getting a call too. Baldus, have you home number but not your cell โ will call you when I get my dam phone system back.
"Doc" Im still in "METROPOLIS" that put a smile on my face, I still call it that now.
Have you seen FOS?He use to live on your patch.
Does anybody know the where abouts of
"Sid" Sudworth,"mad man" Knock,Kev Stewart(LSM) the list is endless,we will have to compile a list this weekend for arrangements for next year, while we are sober!!!!!
TTFN, see you at the weekend.
