Hi Tim,
Hope you are well?
We spoke some years back regard your father Admiral of the Fleet Terence Lewin and your connection with Coventry.
Chris Howe the Association Chairman may be the best person regard your kind offer of the photograph; I know they will very much appreciated.
Best wishes
Paul
HMS Coventry was launched by my mother at CL Yard in Birkenhead, and commissioned by my father at Portsmouth who later sent her to war; i have photos of both events which you are welcome to load to your site if you give me the facilities to do it.
Coventry was very much a "family" ship, her crest hangs on my wall

Just a quick dit to remind everyone that next year's Remembrance/Reunion will be on Sat 25 May 2019 down in Portsmouth. Same routine as in previous years. We will muster at the Still and West for around 1700 and then parade to the FI Memorial site on the sea wall along the road in Old Portsmouth and after at the GIs Ass on Whaley. I will put up the full agenda later in the year but for now please put this down in your diaries.
Finally, I note a few dits just placed on here. It was sad to learn of the passing of my DO David Walton, a nice guy and the only official RN person that came to see me in Haslar whilst recovering..so rest in peace David.
Also, on a warmer note it was good to see that Ginge Applegate has found our website. Ginge please consider joining us next year at the reunion on 25 May, would be good to see you again shipmate even though you were Starboard mess!
Any questions re any issues please do not hesitate to contact me as always. Take care
Chris Howe MBE - Chairman
Further to Ginge A's comment, this from the President of the Type 42 Assoc:
It is with deep regret and a profound sense of personal sadness that I have to report the death of Lieutenant Commander David Walton (COVENTRY 1982; NEWCASTLE & YORK as SWO(U) to Capt D3) who died peacefully at home last Thursday. David and I joined the Navy together in Sep 1971 and served together on the staff of Capt D3, in the Fish Squadron in the late 1970s and both fought in the Falklands Campaign in 1982. He was a great friend and highly professional warfare officer; while I will miss his company enormously I will remember with fond memories the many years we served together. His death will be a tragic loss for his wife and daughters as well as for his many friends.
As yet I do not know of his funeral arrangements etc and will post those details here when they are known.
David - you went down to the sea in ships; you served your country in great waters; you have seen the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep. May you now rest in His peace.

Hi everyone, I spoke to Paddy Kennedy this afternoon and he passed on the sad news that Lt Cdr D Walton (affectionately known as Trackerball), crossed the bar sometime last week. I thought I should let you all know. R.I. P. Sir.
An enormous thank you to all of the crew of D118 for welcoming me into your march and reunion this year and allowing me to represent CPO Keith Blenkharn - especially Up Spirits - which he would have be looking down on! I feel both humbled and extremely grateful to you all.
Once again, a memorable occasion, loved it. A big thanks to Chris etc Al for the organisation. Cov SCC did a bang up job. Raised some funds for a good cause (glad I'm not married).
Looking forward to seeing you all in Pompey.
I have been reading through the guestbook and have seen many names that I recognize. I was on this wonderful ship 1979 to 1982 as a PO Gunner and PO of the Fx. As I left the ship just prior to her sailing down south I knew all those that are still on patrol and I always raise a glass to them and a fantastic ship every 25th May. I recently met up with Faz and he put me on to this site, I intend to be a regular visitor to it from now on. Best wishes to all ex D118 ships company where ever in the world you may be.
In my thoughts today, all lost and all affected by this tragic loss.
I still remember the day.
Thoughts are with all the ex Cov's and families on this day.
Never forgotten.
As the former CO in HMS CLYDE I was privileged to embark some of the Ship's Company of D118 from Pebble Island last Oct to conduct a Remembrance Service at sea over HMS COVENTRY.
On the eve of the 36th Anniversary of the loss my thoughts and prays are with the Ship's Company, their family and friends and those still on patrol.
Hi Shipmates.
My Commander in Chief has booked us to go to Turkey on the 26th May hence unfortunately I will not be able to make the reunion however I will have a tot on the 25th at 1800 to remember the shipmates still on Patrol.
be good to the Pres and March/Bimble correctly.
Just a quick email to say hi to all the Cov's out there, unfortunately I am not able to attend again this year due to work commitments but I will be thinking of you all on the 25th. I am currently onboard Queen Victoria as Safety Trainer so if you know of any Cov's or families due to travel with Cunard let me know. I am meeting up with Bungy Edwards next year in Australia when hopefully he comes onboard for a cruise as my guest. Hope to see you next year. Yours Aye. Trev (Ex Bunting Tosser)
Hi Jack. Lovely to read that a reunion is planned for Pompey. Hope to see you Friday evening. Topsy Turner ex-LS(R)
