What a weekend! It was great seeing everyone again, and renewing old friendships. I have just had a weekend that I shall remember for a very long time. I really do feel proud and privileged to have served on such a happy ship. If I wanted to be poetic here, I would say that on the day, it was not raining. It was heaven weeping for the loss of a good ship, and so many brave men.

Dit 2 A few thankyous are in order, for all the behind the scenes work in organising the Sunday remembrance. Mat Northeast, the whole morningโ€™s proceedings. Splendid Mat, well done. Tony Woodruff, Sam Mac Farlane, Tony Reece and the XO of HMS Edinburgh for the production of the Coventryโ€™s Cross refurbishment CD. Big Doc Savage, for shouting us all into order. Tony Woodruff and Tony Reece for printing and organising the order of service at such short notice. Simon Rouse, for organising the excellent Bugler. Tracy Woodruff, Sam Mac Farlane and of course the Captain for the words that were said. Sid Sudworth, for the collection. The collection raised ยฃ275.00. So again, a big thank you to all who contributed. The intentions are to purchase our own flag for Remembrance Days.

First let say that the weekend was a great success and well done to all involved. It was realy good to see so many of the lads that worked alongside and for me that fatefull day. To thoseof you who may know any of the Stbd POs Mess member whereabouts , please ask then to get in touch, as we where in short supply over the weekend. My main reason in writing this is firstly to thank the city of Coventry for the brilliant severice and reception on Friday the 25th, well done and thank you. For those who said it didnt make the TV it had a fifteen minute spot on Central News on the 26th. The second thing I wanted everyone to know is that now I am working on setting up an assication for use call the Coventry 82, which those who where there over the weekend already know will be open to ALL who served on the COV during her short life. So watch this space for news on how its going and the date for the meeting to elect the committe to run. God bless you all and stay intouch. Big Doc.

Fabulous day and great to see some old friends unable to make Friday/saturday but have decided its time to devote at least one day a year in the memory of those lost and to catch up with as many of you as possible.

Bestest weekend for a long time, so many people not seen for so long. The weekend was great and the service was incredible, always thinking of the guys still on patrol.Saw a trailer for Sea of Fire - scary! Hope it does us justice.

Hope all had a safe weekend in Pompey, wish I were there. Seems the BBC screwed up with the timing of "Sea of Fire", my Dad informed me the "England vs Brazil" game is on at the same time, so I doubt the game will be viewed by many football fans who will be watching BBC 2 instead. Sent the BBC an email - telling them to have England re-schedule the game so the fans could actually watch it, no-reply yet though. Busta, email me you phone number, lost the thing - If I had half a brain I'd be twice as dangerous. Looking forward to the photos being posted, it will be nice to see how ugly you've all become since last years phots! Take care shipmates. Yours Aye Malcolm "Yorkie" Burton.

I was the RAF 'interpreter' on the Coventry 25 years ago and have only recently discovered this site. I am very glad its here and also proud and honoured to have served, albeit briefly, with such a fine crew.

What a great evening last night, fantastic to see so many old faces, many of whom hadn't changed a bit, hopefully this won't be the last time we will all get together. Also it was really great to see the old man turned to with his wife. Sadly I won't be able to make the service on Sunday, but be assured you and those who are still on patrol will be in my thoughts. Have a great time tonight and hopefully I will see many of you on the 2/3 June in Gosport or on the 17th in London.

What a fine evening on the 25th, so many rekindled memories and much missed faces (albeit most a little more plump). I personally had a great time as I am sure we all did. Superb to see the Skipper there, thank you Sir. I am indebted to Toby for badgering me to go, thanks mate. Is there an official point of contact for ex Coventry? I would like to contact a few people that weren't there.

I raise my glass to all those who served on HMS Coventry 25 years ago. Thinking of everyone today including our shipmates from HMS Aurora who stepped in at short notice. But most of all im thinking of the Shipmates Still on patrol and for the families they left behind!
