I am currently serving onboard HMS Argyll and for anyone that is interested, on Thursday 23 August we will be sailing past the round tower at 1400ish with Capt Hart Dyke embarked. It would be great to see any ex Covs on the tower. I have managed to get him a trip from Pompey to Guzz.

Guys, and particularly Doc Savage. SAMA82 have been allocated 250 tickets this year for the Cenotaph,if they have dished out their tickets there's still a way. Doc, the HMS Coventry (1982) Association can attend in their own right. You or the sec must write to the RBL on headed notepaper as soon as you can, requesting the ability for the Association to form a contingent at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, if you request 30 tickets it should not be a problem. We had to go through this for the Royal Naval Communications Association (I'm the chairman). Address letter to Alan Purdie, C/O Royal British Legion, 48 Pall Mall, London, SW1Y 5JY. "We" are already members of our Association and whichever one we march with on Remembrance Sunday, we can get together on Horse Guards, as we have done for years and on occasion have a small libation afterwards!!! Call me Doc if u want more info, we can make this happen if "Hart-Dykes Heroes" want it! Yours Aye, Sam

In response to Toby's fine gesture to get non SAMA Members Tickets to parade in the SAMA Platoon at the Cenotaph in November. I am afraid that will not be possible as only Members with Membership Numbers will be able to get tickets. We are limited to 200 tickets and demand will be high this year as the SAMA Platoon is leading the parade and it is still our 25th Anniversary Year. I would encourage all of you to join SAMA(82)as the Association is now moving forward with renewed strength. It is THE Association for ALL Falkland Veterans.

Site visitors may be interested to know that one of the speakers at the Historical Diving Society's annual conference (Falmouth in October), Lt. Mark Northcote RN, will be talking about the operation to recover classified documents from HMS Coventry the year after she was lost. Further details available from the Society (email above).

Hi there shippers, Now that Im back of my hol;s. I can start work on next years reunion and first AGM for the association. The plan is to hold it in the city of Coventry partly to keep up our links with the city and also to to repay all thier hard work towards the 25th annervisery service this year. I plan to have the AGM on the Friday followed by drinking and a chat. Saturday a Ladies Dinner and sunday a service in Holy Trinity Church at the Coventry Memorial. I will let every one know the costings as I get them. Hopefully Rocky and sellwyn have just about got the enrollment forms ready. so keep your eyes open for the address to send for them and lets have a good turn out for the start of our association. Until then hope everyone is well and looking forward to seeing more of you very soon. Doc Savage.

Hello, my name is Laura Holmes. My dad, Barry Holmes was based on the coventry at one time. some may know him as 'sherlock'. I was christened on the boat and apparently had my name engraved on the ships bell. I was wondering what had happened to the bell after the boat was decomissioned. Thanks.

Hi Lads, Was on the Sheffield down south. I was in the dockyard(Pompey), yesterday and met Garry Brooks Ex Buffer who works in the paint shop, managed to bum off him a couple of ships crest moulds, A SHEFFIELD one, GLASGOW one a COVENTRY one. Have passed on the Glasgow one and wondered if any of you in your Asson would want yours(No Charge)to knock up some crests to pass out at future do's and the such. Just contact me with a postal address and I will forward it on to you. Also if you could name a few dabber's names from 82 then I will know it is a genuine Cov Rating. Yours Aye Bob Mullen

Ladies & Gents, Had a superb day at Horseguards on the 17th June. I've not long left HMS Edinburgh (OK March!) which is the on station War Canoe Down South. Whilst there I was luckily allowed to visit Pebble Island with my WO1 Dicky Davies (Broadsword 1982) - took loads of photos and have e-mailed Damien with a few. If they transfer OK and Damien's happy, I'll snail mail a full set of high res photos for Coventry Members to download/access as required. This was only my third trip back since '82 - of all the years to be back down there... Hope to catch up with some of you in November Bungy 3G Mess HMS Yarmouth 1982

Hi all, I shall be shortly requesting my ticket for the November Ceremonies in London as these tickets will be at a premium this year (25 years)! It would be fantastic if more Coventry Guys were on parade this year. Should you not be a member of SAMA82 then I would be more than happy to apply on yoyr behalf, but the first option should be to join as the benifits go towards veterans and those familes of the guys still on parade. Lokk forward to seeing you there if not hearing from you beforehand.

Hi, I am Trev's daughter. I found it hard to believe when my dad told me that he sunk in the war. I really enjoyed going to the Falklands 25 at Horse Guards Parade and liked watching sea of fire. At the falklands ceremony I was really interested in the videos and were really moved by some of the comments in the book we got. I think you are all very brave and amazing for coping with the sinking of HMS Coventry. Thank You. Jess

On behalf of my family, I would just like to say โ€œthank youโ€ to everyone for their responses to my previous posting on this site, they were all very understanding and well received. Stephen always spoke highly of the ship and its company and it is clear from the postings that I have seen over the years on this site that you do not forget nor forsake any of your fallen ship mates. Doc Savage, with regards to joining your Association, personally I would consider it an honour to be allowed to do so and Iโ€™m sure too that my family would feel the same.

If there's now a HMS Coventry Association, does that mean that there's another website (other than this one)?
Admin Reply:
Once the Association is up and running I'd hope this site would continue to be Coventry's home on the web.
