Everything is as clear as mud! Was an association approved or not? If it was, then someone needs to be able to spell (or use their computer spellcheck facility), otherwise we'll be a laughing stock when the time comes to send out invitations/memos

Good evening Sam, I find your atitude very strange, when you talk about not wanting a formal association. With you being heavly involved with RNCA hich is very formal from all acounts. Anyway the meeting was held on the Saturday as was always the plan, and a large number of those who voted NO to Rocky changed thier minds after the discussion. As i said on the night we had made mistakes, which we hope now we have solved, after speaking with all those who attended. If anyone has any more questions about what its about then pleae drop Rocky or myself a dit and we will answer them. DOC.

I'm sorry that I couldn't make it to the Reunion again this year - I was attending a wedding in Guernsey and then visiting family in Brittany. Best Wishes to all

First of all, it was great to see everyone at the reunion...I had a great time. On Saturday evening I remember sitting at a table and everywhere I looked, around my table and those close by, I saw a friendly (if slightly older) face! I loved that. Calling Toby Owen and Tony Reece...can you both give me a shout on Email please. I cannot find either of your Email addresses. (New PC!)

Graeme, if an Association is what everyone wants then fine, I believed that was not the case and whatever will be will be. When I can make it to Pompey I will, but also I will be at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday as I have for many years with or without a formal Association. Sam

Sam, I think you are playing devils advocate here, being one of the ships company who voted no in the initial vote I changed my mind at the reunion after talking to the lads that were there and finding out it was not going to be too formal. When it comes down to it everyone will make their own decision about joining or not. The bottom line is that it does not stop us all meeting in Portsmouth for a few wets and some dits. With respect to the Cenotaph at least the ships association will give some the option of being able to go and march in the same way as other associations can. Here Endeth my dit AR

Ditto Sam! Well said "BZ" (sorry guys!!!!) And to the comments passed by the other two guys reference "those who have passed on since 82" "We Remember them" Stay Healthy and Safe, Buster We need a spell checker on this site!!!

Doc, I thought the decision by vote had been taken that we did not want an Association?? The idea being that those who could not make Pompey had a say? Looks like an EU referendum vote now, keep going and eventually there is one. I don't think there are many, if any, single ship Associations attending the Cenotaph and certainly no flags or standards are allowed. I'm not convinced the majority want the baggage of formality, subscriptions and all that goes with it. I wish you well in your endeavours. Sam

Andy, Tiny, you're absolutely right, I think of Bomber Mills quite often and to be honest don't how many others may have Crossed the Bar since and I find that quite sad. They will be remembered as fully paid up members of a unique group of people I'm sure. Sam
Adrian "Adey" Cumper wrote on June 5, 2008 at 16:03
Totally agree with Tiny. We rightfully remember those who lost there lives on Coventry, but there are many others who the conflict had a dramatic affect on their lives, that has left them unable to lead "normal" lives. Although "war syndrome" is often ignored by many it is very real. It is reckoned that many more people have lost their lives since the conflict through suicide and related conditions than those who lost their lives directly in the conflict. In my view they need remembering just as much!

Is it not time we remembered ALL those of Cov 82. We cannot forget those of the 25th of May 1982. We need to remember all of the crew as well! Pherhaps a rememberance section for the mates we have lost since 82 would be nice. Brum Holder please contact as it would be nice to here from you. Cheers Andyr

Good day shippers, first let me thank all those who mamaged to make it to popy for this years reunion. a great tiem was had by all and an excellent turn out on the sunday morning. pohots will be put on the site Im assured by those taking them. The meeting was help at the maritime club on saturday 24th May. It was quite well attended, and we had a frank and open discussion about the aims and what exactly was required by all the lads. Having said that before I go any further i my say sorry for the way we tried to set it up, I made some mistakes which I hope we have now sorted out. ith the help of the elected committee, which I will ask Rocky to name as Im not good with all the surmanes. Our aim now is to ensure everybody that Cov 82 is not a black type association but a loose organisation to allow old friends to stay in touch and continue to remember our ship mates still on patrol. To this end I have rewritten the contitution and have sent it today to the committee for checking and changing if required. We hvetaken into account all the things that have been said. BUT the two main aims we were asked to achive . ie. the standard and being able to march on rememberance day, can not happen with out the association title. To this end Gents, I request your support of the Association so that we may take our rightfull place on Remberence Sunday this year and years to come. If you have and comments or wish to discuss anything with me please send your emails to savagebc@hotmail.com. Thats all from me for now. Clam seas and happy days. Doc.

Boris, may sound daft but if you give an email address I might be able to assist. I had to seek assistance during Falklands 25 or lose everthing, now getting help with thoughts, remembering etc. If you or anyone wants to start the healing stage (WE WILL NEVER FORGET) PLEASE contact me as I am sure I can point you in the right direction. Take Care all!!! We cannot FORGET! Nor shall we NOT remember those still on PATROL!
Andy (Tiny) Rowland wrote on May 28, 2008 at 21:53
Boris you were not the only one looking around wondering wether anyone had a clue. I still have my hair just a differant colour (Naval GREY sounds good). I have all the photos of the visit we did on the Nottingham in 84, will scan and post soon, including the ones when she forgot us and we had to be winched back onboard. Take care all and a Glass is always raised to those still on patrol.

I, too, took a few moments on Sunday to remember our shipmates, reading the Roll of Honor from "Four Weeks In May", and observing 2 minutes silence. Boris, thanks for doing the honors, saw you last year and as Yorkie says you're still an ugly git! As for Yorkie's plan to map where we all live, if everyone started a Facebook profile, there's an application on there to highlight where you've lived/visited, where you currently are, and where you'd like to go. It's free, but with all the bad press about MySpace and similar sites maybe not everyone would go for it. Perhaps Damien could add an app on here for us all to add our whereabouts. As I was born 3 centuries ago all this computer stuff is new to me, so I don't know if that's feasible. Always in my thoughts, fellas. Hope you had a good sesh over the weekend

Thought of you all Sunday, it is very difficult to talk with people who were not there with us that day about what happened. I miss being able to share a few dits with old salts. Boris, thanks for being the @ random bald old git - we have not seen each other since the 25th 26yrs ago, last picture I saw of you was the one taken in the Falklands posted on this site - you looked as ugly as you always have!!! Miss you shippers! Bustos, Baldus and all - thinking of you - Woody, how the hell did you end up in Saudi? I thought Knocker and me were the wierd ones turning up all over the planet... Has anyone ever tried to map all the countries and cities we all live in now - I think it would be a good project to do. We shall never forget, we will remember them. Yours Aye - Yorkie.

I wish I could have been there this year. I was thinking about you all and our lost friends at exactly 11AM your time and observed 2 minutes silence. Things have changes since last year and work is taking me far and wide more than expected. I will endeavour to make it next year. Bye for now shipmates.

many thanks to rocky once again for organising yesterdays gathering I felt very privalaged to be chosen to lay this years wreath (albeit totally @ random ).I returned home & my wife & Daughter decided it was just the right weather for ice cream , so we sat watching people padling, windsurfing , just messing about in the warm water of poole harbour, in the sun totally unaware of the thoughts going through the mind of the bald headed bloke sitting in the watching on the time 18.15. thinking of you all to often , boris
