Raising a glass in Australia tonight. All the best and I hope everyone had a good weekend in Portsmouth.
Thinking of all those brave people who gave their lives 37 years ago. Gone but NEVER forgotten.
Hi Guys heading down to Pompey shortly to raise a glass and remember our brave shipmates who are still on patrol. Look forward to meeting up with everyone and spinning those dits that get more exaggerated every year.
Thinking of you all this day....sorry I could not be there but I am currently away arriving in UK on Sunday 26 May, but I will be at the memorial at 1000 on the 26 May to pay my respects. I will raise a glass tonight to the 19 Cov's still on watch.
Shipmates, families and friends of D118.
As Chairman, my thoughts once again are focussed on our 37 year Remembrance service and reunion taking place tomorrow down in Old Portsmouth. My thoughts are with all shipmates past and present and very much looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow evening.
Wherever you are at the said time lets all raise that glass in honour of the 19 shipmates we left down south on patrol. Thinking of you all at this time.

Shipmates et al,
I would like to draw attention to an epic challenge that one of our shipmates is undertaking in the next week.
D118 Shipmate, Baz Avery, is self funding a climb to the Base Camp of Everest, wow! He is doing this to raise funds for FVF (Liberty Lodge) a most worthy cause and where many of us have stayed over recent years no doubt.
Baz has set a financial target and is not quite half way but every little helps in getting him closer to his goals. If you feel you would like to support Baz then follow this link below where you will find more information re this incredible challenge he is undertaking:

BZ Baz and on behalf of all your shipmates, we wish you well and stay safe shipmate.

It was sad to learn of the passing of David Irvine, 1st Lt in the early years of D118.
As Chairman, I have passed on condolences to his family by personal email and will also ensure he is remembered at our service on 25 May this year in Portsmouth.
Thinking of all my shipmates past and present at this time, as always.
Yours aye
Chairman
Following my recent email in regards to our forthcoming reunion I have heard from B
Bernadette Irvine that her husband David Charles Irvine , Lt Cdr (RN Retd) had sadly passed away 7th October 2018, aged 77. I see from our records that David and Bernadette lived in Hobart, Tasmania.
“Sir, Stand down, your duty is done. May you rest in peace”
Dear Shipmates et al,
It is that time of year again where I need to ask that you inform if you are intending to attend at this years Remembrance/Reunion on Sat 25 May 2019. All details are adjacent on the Reunion tab.
As always I really do need to get a reasonable understanding of numbers and of course for security at Whale Island main gate for entry for the reunion part of the day.
Please email in due course with names and numbers of those coming with you.
I look forward to seeing many of you again in May.
Take care

Hi shipmates looking at reproducing 3 of Coventry's t-shirts onto Polo Shirts. 1:The original featuring Peanuts 2: Far East Deployment 3: Hart Dykes Heroes. If this is of interest please click on the Facebook link to view the designs and register which design/s you would like.
HI Darren
I read your note and request with interest and lots of sympathy but sorry to say that COVENTRY did not have excocet weapons, so at this time I am not too sure which ship you refer to; however, I will endeavour to determine which ship it might have been with the clues you have stated.
Good luck with your task and I maybe able help at a later date.
Chairman HMS Coventry D118 Ass.
I was hoping that someone may be able to help me with my daughter-in-laws research for her father (deceased 2000). He was a Warfare Communications Officer during the 1970's and early 1980's. The story that has been passed down is he was on the first HMS ship to enter the Suez canal with Exocet missiles aboard. The same ship was hit and damaged/ sunk in the Falkland war.
Does anybody know if HMS Coventry was the first HMS ship to enter the Suez canal with Exocet missiles aboard?
Any help you can give will be very much appreciated.
Hi Colin, thanks for your email, can you please contact me direct using this email initially so that we can discuss your request. Many thanks
Chairman - Chris Howe

Remembrance Day 2018
Amongst the wreaths laid at Wembury Church (location of the former HMS Cambridge) there will, as in recent years, be a wreath for D118. For the last 4 years this has been laid be my wife Sharron. This year it will be laid by a serving CP0- a a volunteer who has been detailed to the duty from HMS Drake.
Hi Tim, a very kind offer indeed and as Paul Inman has stated in his recent post, as Chairman, I will contact you off line to arrange it with you.
On behalf of myself and my shipmates thank you for thinking of us. BZ Tim
