I was hoping that someone may be able to help me with my daughter-in-laws research for her father (deceased 2000). He was a Warfare Communications Officer during the 1970's and early 1980's. The story that has been passed down is he was on the first HMS ship to enter the Suez canal with Exocet missiles aboard. The same ship was hit and damaged/ sunk in the Falkland war. Does anybody know if HMS Coventry was the first HMS ship to enter the Suez canal with Exocet missiles aboard? Any help you can give will be very much appreciated.
