Just to keep this at the top of the entries for a while... I thought I would just pass along information regarding the new HMS Covenrty association. We now have an Abbey bank account, so we are now in a position to start accepting applications for membership. As stated previously, membership will cost £10.00 and will be for life. The price remains the same for Full membership ( any ex Ship’s Company), and Associate Membership (friends and family of ex ships company). What do you get for your money? There are no plans for trips out, or ladies nights or anything like that - which is why there is no yearly subscription. Your money will however be helping to build on the great camaraderie that we have and allow us in the future to fund other events should we want them or to help pay for wreaths or the bugler expenses, if needed etc. The forming of an association will allow Ex ‘Cov’s to march as a separate entity in Remembrance Parades should we wish to. We are also looking into the fact that members may be able to book The Maritime Club at reduced rates. Other things may also be available to association members, but these will need investigating. Once we are up and running with members, we can take the association in any direction we like. For an application form, please send me an EMail. My EMail address is to the left of this message, but please remember to remove the "No junk mail" that will be added. If however you expressly do not want to join, no problem, you are NOT excluded from anything ie reunions or rememberance gatherings on Sunday - that is for all and any who wish to attend. Looking forward to hearing from you all! Yours Aye. Rocky

I was extremely fortunate to be asked to go to the Falkland Islands to stay at Liberty Lodge when the Princess Royal visited. We flew out on 18th March and I spent Saturady/Sunday 21st/22nd on Pebble Island. The Memorial is in fantastic condition, I polished the brass work and took several photographs. I also visited the Memorial Wood 1982 which is situated behind the cemetary in Ross Road where there has been a tree planted for each person who was lost. Liberty Lodge is a fantastic facility and I strongly recommend it to everybody. It is owned by the Falklands Veterans Foundation and SAMA'82, there is no cost for using the facility, it is self-catering but it needs to be booked through SAMA and you can also get Indulgence Flights with RAF for £75 each way. I strongly recommend everyone to become a member of SAMA'82, there is only a one off payment and the only criteria is that you must hold the South Atlantic Medal. We came home on Friday 27th but you can stay almost as long as you wish. If anyone want recent photos please get in touch.

Gents I have just received an email from Brian Savage concerning his 'trip' to West Africa and how all his money, credit cards etc have been stolen. He wants me to send money by check to help him get home. Be aware this is NOT the Doc Savage we served with, either the PO(M) or AB(R), the email address doesn't match and his address is Lagos, Nigeria. If this address sounds familiar, it's because it's a similar scam that's been doing the rounds for years.

You can't contact him on his email which is mick.kerry301@btinternet.com, he is also on facebook and he lives on Kenilworth Warwickshire. I never tell him but he makes me very proud that he servered during the Falkland War, meeting him when he came home on the QE2 at Southampton seems like yesterday. I remember my Mum crying as it docked I never been so proud to be British. I sure he would love to year from all who remember him.

Dear All. Set up of the HMS Coventry D118 Association. I have now received documentation relating to our own account. (With the Abbey.) So we are now in a position to start accepting applications for membership. As stated previously, membership will cost £10.00 and will be for life. The price remains the same for Full membership ( any ex Ship’s Company), and Associate Membership (friends and family of ex ships company). What do you get for your money? Well we have no plans for a newsletter as such, or trips out, or ladies nights or anything like that. Which is why there is no yearly subscription. For an application form, please send me an email, (address is on the left hand side of this entry in the Guest book. Remember to remove “no junk mail”. Looking forward to hearing from you all!
