Regretfully unable to attend to be with you all today. However, I managed to mark this weekend by visting my youngest lad in Plymouth, currently serving at Raleigh on his baby chef's course. He, as much as anyone has experienced the passion felt by myself and those closest to me from D118, of unceasing comradeship. I raise my glass to you all, shipmates, families and those not able to. Yours aye.

27 years ago today – I can not believe it has been that long. There is so much sadness and emotion running through me today. My thoughts are with a magnificent ship and her brave ships company; especially our ship mates still patrolling the waters of the South Atlantic.

Unable to be there to formally remember our lost shipmates but as always I'll be remembering from afar and will raise a glass in honour of those still on patrol.

Gents I will be attending a Royal British Legion memorial service in Florida tomorrow (it's Memorial Day here on Monday) where one theme will be remembering the 26 RAF personnel who lost their lives while training here before joining their squadrons in the UK. Obviously there will be another theme running through my mind at the same time. I will raise a glass in memory of our shipmates still on patrol. Their names liveth for ever more.

Chaps. I have contacted the Maritime Club, and let them know that there will be our reunion on 29th May. Not sure how many intend coming this year, but I am sure the Club will do a first class job in serving us! If you are thinking of attending, details are on the left hand side of the web this web site.

to a hero> Geoff Oram. He was my pen pal, whom I had met when I was stationed in the Navy. I met him on board the HMS Glamorgan, when his ship hosted a social. We wrote letters back and forth for years, and years, and years. I remember watching the news when it was broadcast about the HMS Coventry. I called a number to find out if my friend was alright. I was told he was and received his mother's phone number. We talked for a long time. I never realized what a horrific event the men of the Coventry went through. They are all my heroes, and God bless you all. If anyone knows of the where abouts of my old friend Geoff; I would be grateful to know. Thanks, and have a great reunion.

I was a project manager and overseer on the construction of HMS Coventry from 1973 to 1978 when commissioned and handed over to the RN. I still feel a sense of loss all these years on, god rest her soul and all those that brave men that perished on that terrible day 25th May 1982.
