Hi Rocky What plans do you have for 2012
Just to pick up on chat - we also visited Lisbon, Portugal during the SNFL period, I still have the 'headache' from the Canadian Mooses milk to prove it...see you all in a few weeks then for top up of headache perhaps?
Chris Howe - PO Golly
i think that lisbon might also have been in the stanavforlant trip.
i think the hamburg trip was actually willemshaven and we also went to kiel and amsterdam from memory
The SNFL tour was Pompey, Rosyth, Kiel, Wilhemshaven, Den Helder, Amsterdam, Pompey in 1981. Our final visit before heading south was Gib then anchored off Ascension
Taff,Titch and Andy I`m sure Titch is right Brixham first and there was Stavanger,La Pallice,Birkenhead,Sunderland,Hamburg and then probably the 80 Far East trip
I may well be wrong here, but I thought that our first port of call after the sea trials was Brixham.
Incidentally, the sea trials of D118 were in 1979 .... it says 1974 next to one of the photos in the album. That (1974) was when the Cov was "laid down"
Hi, Andy ... I seem to remember that after the Cov left Birkenhead, we headed north for sea-trials,then tested the guns off the coast of Wales and our first ever port of call was Fishguard Then to Portsmouth for Commissioning. I seem to remember a trip to Bergen (or was it Trondheim?) on the Cov, and also La Rochelle and being anchored in Scapa Flow (off Kirkwall). That might be a start to a list of ports.
Hello Coventry Shipmates,
would it be possible for someone to post every port that we ever visited in chronoligical order.
Perhaps if we all have a go we will get it right !
We obviously can include Southhampton !

Hi, just thought I'd add an entry.
I was at university during the war and followed the news closely. Just read your skippers book, best book I have ever read.
Job well done Coventry, I am still in awe of your conduct.

Ahoy Shippers,
Just a quick Hi to say looking forward to the Re-Union in May and hope to see all the old faces and hopefully a lot of new ones too.
Hoping your all well, so until then.
Stay safe.
Toby
He's doing very well.
Hi Nick, yes I remember Baz, internal comms, also knew him onboard Gloucester. How's he doing?
Do any of you guys remember Baz Wakefield?
Does anyone from the Cov remember a Derek Wright, now 57-ish. He states that he was on the Cov for a couple of years, but I can't remember him. He is currently living in Peterborough, has fallen on hard times and I want to point him in the right direction for help. I haven't spoken to him as yet, but a colleague knew that I also served on the Cov so has given me brief details of his plight. Would like to know a bit more before I approach him. Please help.
