Ginge...Just to back up what Paul has said. I was laughing out loud at points reading that newsletter. Not good when you are sat at the PC at work with a half eaten ham sandwich in your starboard mit.
Thanks (to yourself and to Damien)for taking the time and effort to get it up on the site.
Joe O'Driscoll (God rest him)did all the cartoons I remember.
In a similar theme, does anyone remember the Ops Room dits book? There were some classics recorded in it I remember. If that had survived it would make great reading now.
Steve, "Jackspeak" by Rick Jolly is the onlt one that springs to mind, available from amazon or a good bookstore in Pompey or Guz, or the visitor center at HMS Victory

Damien has put the newsletter on the web site. I found it after a clear out at my Dads. Hope it brings a smile to your faces.
Hi, Last year, my wife Jan, had a call from John Bearn who was a school friend of Ian Hall(still on patrol). He wanted to make contact with Ian's Mum and sister, whose name is Alison Munday-Gill. Somehow we managed to connect the two parties. However, John has called Jan again to say he has mislaid the contact details and was very disappointed to miss the Pangbourne service this year, then hearing that Alison and her Mum were there. Is there anyone with their contact details please.

The aim of the Association is to foster and build upon the comradeship of our ship โThe Covโ, and to remember those of our shipโs company who made the ultimate sacrifice in the South Atlantic.
We also get 10% off wets at the Maritime Club. There will also be other advantages yet to be investigated.

Hi I have aquired an Ensighn and photo's from HMS Coventry, which were mounted i believe by crew in a case, this was handed to West Midlands Police in Coventry, I have a picture of crew marching through Coventry before handing it over, I was wandering what day that was? I put an ad in the Coventry evening telegraph to no avail... can anyone help
It was good to see you Chris at the reunion and I agree with your comments, In light of Micks email to us all, I would love to go to Coventry for the 2011 reunion and have our 30th at Portsmouth, if we can reach out to some more of our shipmates that would be great.
Dont whistle at sea
Simon
Just a quick dit to say what a great weekend we had for this years reunion but more importantly what a very moving service we had for our act of rememberance on the Sunday morning as the sun shone down on us all.
Not having been for several years myself I made the observation that our numbers for attending are low. Can I therefore suggest that we all start thinking of the reunion either next year in Coventry but more importantly for 2012 and 30 years on, that we all make a concerted effort to spread the word and get as many contact details as possible into the committee. So if you are in touch with old shipmates from D118 then encourage them to join us for the next reunion.
We owe this much to our lost shipmates still on patrol and we certainly owe it to their families that still grieve their sad and tragic loss.
Think on shipmates and let us do ourselves and others proud in future years.

is that the andy stewart that got realy realy upset because his local paper had an article about local lads abroad in china, had a pic of both of us meeting chinese sailors and didnt mension him at all?the shields gazette didnt say athing about the shields kid it was all about the jarra lad!
Morning Gents, this is the first chance Ive had sinece the reunion to put pen to paper so to speak. What withstating a new job and all.
I would like to take this oppertunity to thank all those who attended the reunion weekend and those who traveled down on the Sunday to be at the service. My thaks go out to all who took part in the service and to Nobby in particular for the order of service. Well done to all concerned.
We held a meeting on the saturday evening to decided on next years reunion, which will be the weekend of the 20th May 2011 in the city of Coventry. I am about to right to the Sec of Coventry RNA and to the Lord Mayor, to set up what i hope wil be a great weekend and a full blowne service on the Sunday. The committee also have plans for the Cov and Broadsword to Have a joint reunion in 2012 the 30th an. This was surgested by Broadsword shipmates who joined us on the Saturday evening. Rocky will be contacting their sec to see if this is possible.
To you all I would say please stay in touch and in this I enclude all the families of those still on patrol, you are all more than welcome if you would like to attend any of the reunions we hold. I will keep you all informed as to the progress I make with the city of Coventry.
So until I see you all again , take care and fair winds to sail in.
