To Chris, the committee and all fellow shipmates - it was an honour and privelidge to be amongst you again this weekend in Coventry,to laugh and recall good times, marching as a unit, reflecting on those difficult moments, remembering our lost shipmates still on watch -it will last in mine and my families memory forever. Thanks to you all who played a part to make it go so well. The local film coverage was excellent and we really looked the part marching - cobbles and all - so well done Eli and all - it will only enhance and further our goal towards 2012. Hope everything went well in Pompey -Buster,Ginge and others - we were thinking about you as well. And a glass will be raised on Wednesday. Take care and best wishes to all ex-Cov's Mick (jack)Daniels & family p.s.Molly Sugden - i still have a copy of my poem and press release - the poem is signed with the initials - 'RWH' in the bottom right hand corner. Was that the flight observer?

I would just like to thank all those involved with the service and welcoming me yesterday. It was very humbling to have been given the chance to march with my brothers shipmates and I felt so proud of our Steve and to represent my family. The standard with the lads names on is a very fitting tribute and does them proud. It was an emotional day for all of us and the support and friendship I received helped me through it. Thanks Eli for the humour, it took me back to Raleigh. You are a great bunch of lads and I hope to see you in Pompey next year.Look at those curls Craig!!!!

Shipmates - Wow, what a response from you, not only from my fellow shipmates but also in many personal emails to me as Chairman from many and varied in and out of community, it is most touching and humbling to read them. For me as your Chairman, the aim was achieved this weekend, those that could manage to get up to Coventry will bear witness to what occured, some have already posted views to this site. The Service of Remembrance at the Holy Trinity Church was clearly the highlight of the weekend, the emotions were running high in such a splendid and fitting venue to have our new Standard blessed by the David Mayhew, Rvd. Holly Trinity. To proudly march as HMS Coventry Platoon through the streets of Coventry City is something I will never forget, and believe it or not, the marching was perfect - even Eli thought so... My thank you letters have gone out first thing this morning (RNA, HT Church, Mayor's office, Broadsword) on behalf of all of us and will now follow up with obtaining the various media coverage we attracted from local TV, Radio and Press. I will track it down and get our Webmaster to place it on the website, I hope. Please keep watching the reunion tab for next year, we will be in Porsmouth and the main event will be Friday 25th May, but more soon on the weekend agenda as it develops, but get the date in the dairy, 25 - 27th May 2012. There is so much more I could say about yesterday, but not sure I could do it justice. Thanks so much for allowing me as your Chairman to lead us this weekend, it was fantastic, emotional and somewhat 'fluid' with 'Nelson's Blood' flowing liberally as we raised a glass or three to our shipmates still on patrol in the South Atlantic. Take care Yrs Aye

Thanks one and all for a very memorable weekend in Coventry, although some parts are clearer than others. The organisation and service were without fault, even the marching/bimble was a picture, thanks Elli. My thoughts also went out to those who mustered in Pompey to remember, see you there next year. Calm seas one and all.

I just wanted to second Craig's comments and thank Chris and the Commitee for all their hard work in organising the reunion. From the stories I heard today I wish I had been able to attend the whole weekend. Having seen the 'Cross of Nails' again can anybody out there tell me who wrote the following words which I have always used to put on a card when placing a wreath on a memorial. 'In the cathedral 3 great nails once held Hearts of oak, until in war they were felled. In cruciform they found new life, To guide mens hearts in peace and strife. Now they mark the watery grave of a ship and her men giving all to save.' I think i took it from the hand out we were all given on the QE2 to help us answer questions from the press on our return but the years have faded the memory. I have a memory that the Flight Observer wrote a song and performed it at the SODS Opera did he also pen these few lines. Can anybody help? Really good to catch up with people today, hope everybody had safe journeys home. PS. Craig that is one serious face you had in the photo!!!!!!!!

Firstly I have just found out that i have missed the reunion this year in Coventry and I feel really dissappoited as I had it down for next week in my Dairy. I found out while watching the News on the Telly. i however have vowed to make the next one in 12 months time. Whats more is appointing is that i only live 5 miles from Coventry and was looking to meet you all again as its been a few years. I hope the day went well and a good time was had by all. I also remember the shipmates who are no longer with us. Take Care all an i look farward to next year when I will not make the same mistake as this.
