I am so glad you boys had fun and a few tinnies. I am planning on coming over next year however I am also trying to plan a family reunion at the same time. If not I will be there in 07 for the 25th reunion (quarter centuary). By then we will all be in wheelchairs and have to invite the families to help push us around.
Really enjoyed the reunion guys (thanks Rocky + co)and good to catch up with you all.
After seeing Tony Reece (hi), be good to hear from a few more greenies makes me feel younger! Little Johno
dear all
Glad i made the trip Sunday morning...It was nice to chat with old shipmates and to reflect on times past but not to forget our comrades who did not come home.
Well what a weekend, it was great to get together with shipmates again, I have got some photies, and yes one of Barny collapsing with laughter on the stairs, it was fantastic to meet you all and get to know a lot of new faces of the crew who served on this great ship, mind you it took me a couple of days to fully recover from the saturday night run, and as for the friday run "hasn't Marthas changed".
A very moving memorial on sunday to remember the crew members still on watch,I was very moved by the whole occasion and have come home with the upmost respect for all of you who were there on that sad day and cant wait to meet up with you all again next year.
best wishes to you all and thanks for making it a great weekend

Woody itโs been so long, and we served most of our career together, Blake, Dryad. Coventry (Along with Rocky) etcโฆ Letโs keep in touch.
Lighter side โ thanks Rocky for providing Billy with great entertainment at the Home Club! You have to send me the photo of Billy laughing on the stairs. Topsy โ do not treat taxi drivers like that!!! They do not know you the way we do. Steve โ if I ever need a nodding dog for my car โ I will replicate the picture of you at the Indian restaurant!
I will be back next year (2006), but really looking forward to 2007 (25 years) โ hopefully some of you will have grown hair back by then.
I miss you all โ and David Lane (Sir) thanks for you thoughts, please come and see your family, we have a great respect for you, hope to see you when my sorry butt gets back to the UK.
Yours Aye
Yorkie (Dickie) Burton
I think that the only emotional moment other than the ceremony โ and at the ceremony I was crying, but being with you all, my family thatโs OK โ was when I was talking with Busta in the Still and West โ about why all of us can talk, and share personal and emotional issues. As shippers you know that we are family until the end of time and it is difficult to communicate with others unless you were there โ thatโs why reunions are importantโฆ
Back in Phoenix, Arizona โ cold it dropped to 109โฆ
Simon โ I missed you โ you tall B*****d hope you can contact Smudge. I am still reeling from the emotion of meeting my shipmates after so long. Jock Rutherford (And we were all trying to remember his name (too many tins.), spent an hour talking about it until Baldus remembered โ so our only hope is Viagra now โ (me included!) Jock was with me on the 3 inch/2 inch launchers that day โ he was Port sideโ he and scouse shouted to Lee and me to DUCK! So we owe you bothโฆ Jock get you butt out from California next year โ or I will personally grab your arse and drag you over!
Steve (Yorkie Walker) โ thanks, I believe, though I may be wrong, you were the only representative of your branch, again thanks for flying from Florida to share a drink your shippers โ lets all do it again next year.
Don't be such a Gobby sprog Rutherford !!
I was working over the weekend of the reunion, and on 25th, but I paused long enough to remember our buddies still on patrol down south. As Yorkie said in an earlier message, a lot of people over here haven't heard of the Falklands, but when I've spoken about my time in the RN they're interested to hear what we did to uphold democracy.
Good to see the photos of the reunion, and I promise to get there some time soon, Rocky.
We'll be in UK for 2 weeks in June and we'll visit the memorial in Old Portsmouth on Liberation Day (also my wife's birthday).
As with all who were there, the memory never fades.
Yours Aye,
Dougie (Nav Yeo retired)
the 25th May 2005 is almost over and the day forgotten, however the 25 May 1982 will live with me forever.
Nice to see the pictures of the reunion and the happy faces.
Since I was only 17 1/2 in 1982 I look think I look a bit younger than most of you.
Jock
Thanks mate, its a "strap on one" to match yours, nice one.
Busta...Nice picture of you with Steve and Topsy mate...you look a little out of shape though with that extra chin. Perhaps you should work out a bit!!!
My thoughts are with you all today โ those of us that came home and those that are still on patrol. I found my self a quite corner of the garden this evening to sit and reflect over those days 23 years ago.
My feelings for the ship and all those that sailed in her have a special place in my heart; having return from Portsmouth this weekend and seeing many of you for their first time since our return to Southampton I realise how much you all mean to me and how much I miss you all. I drink a toast to you all โ Absent friends and those at sea!
Paul
Thinking of you all on this special day and especially those who did not return
Thank you shipmates a weekend not to forget ,and a prayer for those still on watch we will always remember.
Ahoy Shippers,
Good to see so many faces on Sunday, not all recognised at first, but hey we all get older.
Sorry won't be able to make the parade in August as I'm away with the family, but I will be thinking of you all, as I am today.
Good effort again Rocky, keep it going mate.
If I don't see any of you before, I'll hoefully see you at the Cenotaph in November.
Best wishes to you all.
We do remember them
This day 23 years ago is always remembered.
Will have a beer or two tonight. Cheers to you all and the lads that never made it.
Jock
