My partner was on Conventry when she went down. It is wonderful for me to be able to come on here and read her history and learn more about her crew.
Just viewed the pictures of Brian "Smudge"Smith, LHOM of 3Q Mess.. never had a chance to say it but thanks for looking after me when I really didnt have a clue about life on board...at the ripe old age of 17 when I joined the ship and only 17 1/2 on the 25th May.. I owe him a lot... Cheers Mate..
What an incredible day yesterday. 125 was an incredible number to attend and much credit to Chris Howe, Eli and others who made it happen. We certainly did justice to our fallen comrades. The Captain made a moving and emotional speech in the evening and I'm sorry I can't make the rest of the weekend activities. Incredible to see many travelling from Australia, USA & Spain and great to see so many from the Supply Department with Mike Richardson, Tim Fletcher, Steve Andrews, Andy Stewart & Geoff Oram to name a few. Very proud to be part of such an incredible Ship's Company.
Solemn thoughts on this auspicious ocassion..... very haunting memories
I wish to express my respect for Coventry's service and honor the memory of the men whom were lost thirty years ago.
I had toured HMS Arrow during her NYC visit the summer before and I followed events from the Falklands more than you might expect from an American who was in junior high at the time!
I've had a keen interest ever since in the history of the Falklands War war and great admiration for the British expedition that achieved victory against incredible odds.
I've read Captain Hart-Dykes book and have nothing but admiration for the courage and camaraderie of Coventry's company and all of their colleagues as well.
Once again, my respects to all who served during that time, and my prayers to the loved ones of those who were lost...

Sad that I can't be with you at this special time on this special day. I will always remember a fantastic ship and an amazing crew. God Bless those still on patrol, I will be raising a glass or two. Calm Seas.
Thirty years on I remember as if it was only yesterday, it still tugs at my heart strings and always will, God bless them all and those that have joined them since, with fond memories and best regards to all, yours aye, POMEM(M)Allan Bagsy Bagnall
Today I had the honour of reading the names of our shipmates who are still on patrol at the wreath laying in Holly Trinity Church with Coventry RNA, a very moving morning with UP SPIRITS afterwards. Sorry I cannt be with you this year but my thoughts and those of my family are always with you. Doc.
THINKING OF YOU ALL TODAY, AND WISH YOU ARE ALL WELL. NOT FORGETING THE VERY BRAVE FEW WHO ARE STILL 'ON WATCH' AND ALSO NOT FORGETTING THE FEW (JOE O'DRISCOLL.YORKIE BURTON ECT, WHO HAVE SCINCE JOINED THE ROSTER) GOD BLESS YOU ALL, YOU HOLD, AND ALWAYS WILL HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART
Remembering our shipmates still on patrol 30 years on. Also the crew of Atlantic Conveyor, the Broadsword who picked a lot of us up, and the troops on the ground who, 21 days later, would be hoisting the Union Flag over Stanley. Heading out now to Old Portsmouth to hoist a few in proud memory. R.I.P.
To all those still on patrol, I raise a glass. wishing I could be at the reunion to raise a glass with those that came home.
I raise a glass to my shipmates who are still on patrol.... For those attending the reunion I raise my glass to you all...
Those that remain are forever in my thoughts. Sorry can't be at this the thirty year rememberance. But will be there in thoughts.
To the brave crew of HMS Coventry, and the 19 crewmembers still on eternal patrol, your sacrifice is not forgotten.
Will be remembering all those left on patrol and raising a glass to thier memory
I didn't serve on HMS Coventry, but recall clearly how, as a young lad, I saw her launched on a sunny morning in 1974 in Birkenhead. I always felt a special attachment to her, and was both gutted and angry when I heard of her sinking. My best wishes, on your anniversary day, to all who served on her.
Our lovely Rod is always in our thoughts, he was such a great bloke, and even though we would have liked to make the trip up to Portsmouth on this special day, we are just not brave enough. We shall be thinking of you all today... and those that didn't come back. None of you will ever be forgotten.
I will be remembering those still on patrol with one or two glasses tonight, rest in peace guys
