Was an original member of the crew commisioned in Pompey with Captain CPO Burne.Did the Far East trip and went to Collingwood just weeks before the Falklands for "killicks" course. Was an OEM/MEM(L) Had a great time recognise most of the names appearing on the notes. Retired out of Royal Navy and joined the US Navy Seabees and living in Texas right now. Wes Cowan you can tell your brother he was one of the best friends I ever had and I met up with him again when he was on the Bristol and I was on the Fife doing a handover in Stanley Sound. The site is great and I will never forget her or my "shipmates" rest in peace and know you will always be remembered

First time on site only ever been on the SAMA82 before. Congratulations on a wonderful web site. Have sent mail to a few people already on the guestbook, one has been returned it was to Craig Phillips ex MEM(L) any body know his whereabouts. Hope to hear back from those I've mailed or from anybody that remembers me.Especially members of 3P Mess. Think a lot about the times we had from when I joined in January up to the 25th and our trip home on the QE2. Best wishes to all ship mates Molly

I would be interested to hear from anyone who served with my dad, Nigel Edwards (Bungy) in 1982. I have looked at this site many times and am so proud of my dad. I would appreciate any stories that I could tease him about and talk about to his grandson.

It must be years since I've been in contact with anyone who served on the Coventry during the time that I was on her. I joined the ship while she was in drydock at Pompey in Jan 81 and remained with her as PO of the Quarterdeck until May 82. Since leaving her I have often wondered if Paddy Burke ever learned to play uckers. I was released from the RN as a WO(S) in Jan 03 and have since been employed as a Conference Manager at HMS Collingwood. It was a good feeling to discover the CV website and I look forward to meeting old buddies once again. If anyone should remember me, why not drop a line.

Hi, I served in the RN from 1982-1988. I run Comradesandcolleagues.com a site that serves to reunite ex forces by listing units/ships etc. There are several ex Coventry members registered there. Please will you post a link to our site - happy to reciprocate. Cheers Mike Hosking http://www.comradesandcolleagues.com

Just to keep everyone in the picture. We are going to have a bit of a get together on the weekend 21-23 May in Portsmouth. Nothing formal, just a run ashore or two โ€“ to talk about the ship and old friends. If you want to come along, we will be meeting in the home club (Come onโ€ฆwhere else!!) in the early evening and moving out from there as the fancy takes us. On the Saturday morning we will place a wreath for the ship at the South Atlantic memorial in Old Portsmouth. Please Email me for further info. Jimahudson@Tiscali.co.uk Jim.

Message here for Damien who asked on a recent PPRUNE discussion about photos of the HMS Coventry memorial on Pebble Island. I have a series of pictures that I took in May 1997 during a 3 day stay on the island. If you let me know where to send them I'd be happy to forward them to you.

Sorry about the dead link to our web site. Due to the enormous interest in The Society we had to purchase web space and do things properly. the above URL is now the link to our site. On my next update i will add a link to the Coventry web site too.

RUN ASHORE Dit 2 Also, on the Saturday AM, a few of us intend placing a wreath by the Falklands memorial in Old Portsmouth, which, I am sure you agree, will be very fitting. Watch this space for any updates regarding the weekend!! Please Email me and tell me your plans. Rocky. Jimahudson@tiscali.co.uk

Dear All. (Do you hear there!) RUN ASHORE! Dit 1 There is going to be a run ashore in Portsmouth on the weekend 21โ€“22 May 2004. With the 22nd anniversary approaching, we thought a loose, fairly unplanned couple of nights out would be a great way to remember the ship, and our absent friends. Like all good runs, we are not really planning anything, just to show up and tour the town as our fancy takes us finishing up with Big Eats or Joโ€™s (Or both!!) Friday night meeting up will be determined by peoples travel plans. So more on that closer to the day. But on Saturday, meet at the home Club at 6pmโ€ฆ. So, can you join us ??!!! It would be great if we could get as many โ€œEx Coventryโ€ along as possible. It looks like being a really great time and all are welcome. Rocky. Jimahudson@tiscali.co.uk

Buster (and everyone) I am very keen on this DTS that is being talked about. I am also in contact with Steve Ingleby. So hopefully we shall both be there! If Saturday is the day, does that make the Friday a postcard run!!! Barny. If the Brigham Young you are after is the older (and much quieter) of the two down 3Q, then I can tell you that up until I moved away from Pompie four years ago, he was working as a guard at Haslar Prison.
