First may i say what a fitting site this is. Secondly does anyone know the wherabouts of Giani Codognotto (probably the wrong spelling!) He left the mob around 1990'ish and went to OZZ. He left as an LRO(T)but was probably only an RO when on the Cov during the war. If anyone remembers him or knows of his whereabouts this would be great. Many thanks in advance.

A fitting tribute to a brave ships company. I spent my first draft on coventry 78 - 80 and my claim to fame is that I cut the commissioning cake with the then skippers Capt Chris Burns wife. A fine ship.

I was a young Seaman Radar in Coventry's first commission. I left her in December 1981 and actually served in the Falklands in HMS Cardiff. I remember many of those who lost their lives. I still have the Deployment Book from the Far East in 1980 and still have my original Locker Keys from 3Q mess that I keep with my medals. I hope you had a great reunion. She was a great ship.

A long awaited site. For a long time there have been many questions unanswered about the tragic loss, I was fortunate to have been working for DRSO when channel 4 made the going critical documentary, some of which was filmed on " birmingham", sister ship to ,"coventry", the hairs on the back of my neck stood up when Bill Canning said that " he forgot coventry for a moment", and I remember thinking that there would be a lot of eyebrows raised in the MOD when this is screened

You should be very proud of your lad Patrick Joseph, he's obviously got your gift when it comes to organising stuff. I can see that I am one of many that have missed the Chatham event, however I was contacted by a number of ex-S&S (aka Douds, Wanty and Potts)a couple of weeks before and we think we will get together later this year, and possibly "up North". Can somebody please let me know what is happening at Sultan in June, although I guess it is the annual memorial service. Details please anyone! Once again, well done Damien and remember, as your Dad always used to say, "It's a big firm Partner". God Bless all who are reading this, especially Ex COV's.

Great website It has all come back to me again particularly strongly this year. At quiet moments I recall the events of those few days and especially the 25th. I don't know how long I spent on the focsle that day bringing the Coventry boys on board. Their resolute composure and attitude that night is still with me in my thoughts, as are those I never knew that we left behind that night. It is now half a lifetime away yet nothing I have done or am likely to do will have as profound an effect on me as those few short days.

20 years ago tonight I lost a major part of my life, HMS Coventry; and along with it 19 shipmates, whom I will never forget; God bless you all. I always make a point of having a few moments to myself on the 25th May, and a beer or two – Unfortunately I was unable to make Coventry's re-union this year, but hopeful I will be there on the next one. Hope to see all you ex-Cov's at HMS Sultan in June. Good Luck Shipmates Paul
